Classic Smoky Eye

Hey everyone, now that fall is coming I wanted to create a very smokey classic eye. I get told a lot by clients that a classic smokey eye is way to dark. Especially from my browner toned females with brown eyes. Now me being of that fair complexion and brown eye, I believe the opposite.  Its all about the colors you choose and how you blend it. So I created a brown smokey eye. Very bold yet not over powering. I wanted it to look well blended and not like a raccoon eye.

Some products I used
First I started with taking a transition color and applied Buck from the Urban Decay Palette to my crease and blended downwards towards the lid. I than grabbed my Anastasia Beverly Hills Shadow Couture Palette. Using Morocco on a blended brush I buffed and deposited the color below the transition color a few centimeters away and blended down towards the lid. Afterwards using Maybelline black eyeliner I lined my eyes (no specific way and it was messy and not even), then with a small pointed dense brush I blended the eyeliner out going upwards to meet to the Morocco I previously used. Try not to blend it downwards that is where the Raccoon eyes will happen. Grabbing the same brush I used Morocco with, I applied a small amount of Fudge from the same Anastasia Palette and started blending the blended eyeliner again going upwards not downwards. Taking a clean blending brush just blend it all together again softly while trying not to move the shadows placed previously, than add a vanilla shade to the eyebrow bone to brighten the area. I choose to add a highlighter in the inner corner to brighten up the look more. On the lower lash line, I lined my water line, and blended it out with Morocco. Add some mascara and lashes and "WALA" you're done. Just remember to keep blending and when you think you're done blend some more! hehe
Classic Smokey Eye

For the face, I used Maybelline Fit me Foundation in shade 315 and the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer 25 in Medium. I set my under eyes with translucent powder from NYC. Using the  Lorac Pro Contour Palette to contour in medium on cheeks, temples, and jaw. Smashbox blush in "Pop of Pink". Lips are a NYC lip gloss the name has been wiped away. Ardell Lashes. Brows are just a regular brown shadow. Highlighter is Hard Candy.

Here is a short clip below of the face. I accidentally erased the eye makeup video #majorfail. Hope you like.

5 Coconut Oil Uses

Doesn’t it seem like every day, week, or month there is a new “it” product, and it’s getting hard to keep up?  I can tell you for certain that when it comes to all natural organic coconut oil, it’s truly miraculous! Not only that, but you won’t even begin to imagine the things you can use it for and the benefits you can get from it. As well as the unexpected uses for this wonder oil that will take your health and beauty routine to another level.

 1. Hair Mask

One of the hardest tasks is to find a Shampoo or hair product that isn’t full of chemicals and additives that will strip your hair of essential oil instead of nourishing and replenishing your hair strands, as they claim. That’s why so many are using coconut oil and have been for many years. Most oils just coat your hair in a thin layer of moisture and nourishment that doesn’t really penetrate the cuticle or make enough of a difference to justify using them. For luscious locks that are soft and super shiny, then coconut oil is the solution. It prevents hair loss with its vitamin content and keeps it super strong by protecting the protein.

ü  For the hair mask, simply grab about 1-2 tablespoons of the Coconut Oil (depending on hair density and length you may need 3-4) and start saturating your ends and go upwards to the root. Try avoiding a high concentration on your scalp, and instead allow for the oil to coat your strands and the ends. Let it sit for about an hour and wash it out, or you could place a shower cap over your head and sleep with it overnight, depending on how much your hair needs it (I sleep with it in my hair once a month).  As well as you could use this method in the shower. Allow it to absorb into your scalp for a few minutes, then rinse out and style as usual.

2. Make up Remover

Yes, simply using coconut oil to remove makeup is efficient. Especially for those who have sensitive skin, and can’t find a makeup remover that doesn’t irritate your face or make you break out. While wipes are easy and portable, they are frustrating and only to scrub so hard to still see mascara and liner on the face. Coconut Oil breaks up water-resistant substances used in eye shadow and mascara, releasing them from the skin and lashes.

ü  Take a teaspoon of coconut oil and place it on a cotton pad, and just gently wipe. You will want to rinse your face afterwards to remove the entire residue.  (Avoid getting it inside the eye)

3. Teeth Cleaner

A technique sometimes referred to as “oil pulling” and has been used for years. All you do is swish it in your mouth for about 10-20 minutes (I know seem long), spit it out (in trash, not sink so you don’t clog it), rinse with salt water, and brush those teeth normally. The Coconut Oil is what aides in eliminating the bacteria. The benefits of doing this are it can cure tooth decay, kills bad breath, soothes dry throat, prevents heart diseases, boost immune system, prevents cavities, etc.  It’s recommended at least 3-4x a week for best results.

4. Daily Moisturizer

Coconut Oil makes a great skin Moisturizer on its own, or blended if you prefer. I prefer alone. The benefits of the protein and nutrients being added to the skin are amazing. Coconut Oil is naturally antibacterial and antifungal, and can penetrate better than any other oils. It can help soothe eczema by applying daily to help soothe the pain and itch of the irritated skin and dry patches. Or, if you have dry and rough feet you can massage the oil into your feet and put on a pair of sock while you sleep. You could use the oil all over, oily skin I wouldn’t recommended using so much or doing it as often, now if you have dry skin I would say go for it.  Not mention you can use it to shave your legs!

5. Cooking & Eating

Of course, what other way! Some oils are unsafe to cook with at high temperatures; coconut oil is a great alternative. Coconut oil is trendy and consider and “superfood” but for some really good reasons, not only is it tasty but it is so jam packed with nutrients that are incredible for your health. According to some research, it is metabolized in a positive effect on people with brain disorders. It could also help keep your appetite in check without any dangerous supplements. You could consider putting it into your coffee, pouring it into stir fry, or hundreds of other recipes.

Although, it seems like Coconut Oil can’t get any better it can! You can just search ways to use it and will get hundreds of links! These are my tops 5 favorites. A little goes a long way, so considering grabbing one the next time you’re at your local grocery store. Hope you try these tips out, and if you do let me know how it goes for you!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Shadow Couture Eye Shadow Palette

Hi Beauties! Recently my husband surprised me with the New Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH) “Shadow Couture World Traveler” palette. Let me start off by saying I truly have been wanting this palette since I first seen it pop up on my Instagram news feed. The colors looked so smooth and wonderfully thought of that I knew I needed to have it. It retails for $30 USD, and can be purchased at any Ulta, Macy’s, Sephora, Nordstrom, or on the ABH website (http://www.anastasiabeverlyhills.com/).

The palette itself in person is truly beautiful. The Finishes include matte, satin, and metallic and are very pigmented. You get 12 shades which include (from Ulta Website)…

§  Soft Peach: neutral, flesh-toned beige with a matte finish.

§  Morocco: warm, desert sand with a matte finish.

§  Heirloom: A shimmery, eggplant hue with a satin finish.

§  Bellini: A sophisticated, golden peach with a satin finish.

§  Pink Champagne: A cool, glimmering mauve with a metallic  finish.

§  Chic: A sophisticated, taupe grey with a satin finish.

§  Spoiled: A gold-flecked peach with a satin finish.

§  Fudge: A rich, chocolate brown with a matte finish.

§  Azure: A vibrant, Mediterranean blue with a satin finish.

§  Intense Gaze: A warm, bronzed pink with a satin finish.

§  Metallic: A subtle, shimmery gold with a satin finish.

§  Noir: A sultry, inky black with a matte finish.

Ok, so putting all excitement aside, this palette is great, I have used it basically every day since I’ve gotten it. The colors are true to pigmentation, and can be built up more. My favorite shades include Soft Peach, Morocco, and Pink Champagne for an everyday look with a touch of glitter. Now there is minimal fall out with the shadows, but I would say the shades with metallic glitter if not tapped on the eye can definitely lead to fall out. The shadows are very bendable and easy to use; they do not have a chalky consistency which is really big with me! Now, Azure is such a gorgeous color but with like any other blue shadow ,it can be difficult to blend if you try to add too much at once. I would recommend using a little at a time and building it up slowly, unless that’s the looks you’re going for.

Shadows can also be used wet or dry without ruining the consistency of the product, and is recommended. Over all, I love this palette and believe it’s worth the buy for me at least! You can play this palette up or tone it down which makes it such a great palette to have! Let me know your thoughts, and if you’ve purchased this palette let me know how its working for you!

When to Toss?

Hey beauties! So I get asked many times when is the proper time to toss out makeup. I know I dread tossing out makeup especially when I have invested time and money on each item. Chances are we’ve all used expired makeup at some point. Those itchy eyes and skin irritations are a huge wake up call to start decluttering and tossing them away! Unlike food and other items Makeup isn’t required to have an expiration date, so here is a small list to help you declutter, enjoy!

Mascara 3months

Mascara should be replaced every three months, because that little wand is a bacteria’s best friend. Due to the mascaras consistency, this makes it more vulnerable to bacteria. Also its proximity to your eye can lead to possible infections, and we want to avoid that as much as possible.
(Revlon masacara & Lorac Pro Fiber)

Liquid Liners 6months

Liquid eyeliners show the same concerns as mascara, so they should be replaced every six months.
Pencil eyeliners, however should last up to two years with the sharping of pencil, which keeps it fresh.
(Elf cosmetics liquid liner in plum, NYC Liner, NYX liner)

Foundation 6-12months

Foundations such as liquid foundations or cream foundations should last you anywhere from six to twelve months. If you notice a change in smell, texture and color say goodbye sooner. As well as if you are prone to acne, think about tossing it out closer to every six months. Try your best to keep it out the bathroom and areas where there is a lot of moisture, as it can make it “go bad” sooner.
(MUFE HD Foundation, Maybelline Fit Me, MUD Makeup Designory)

Lip-gloss 1year

Due to its liquid consistency, lip-gloss needs to be replaced more often than lipsticks. So switch it up and swap out every year. It’s a great excuse to switch up colors and but new ones with the seasons changing!
(Sonia Kashuk lip balm, NYC stay glossy)

Concealer 1year

Concealers, as with liners, depend on the consistency. Liquid concealers should be tossed out after one year, but powder concealers are good up till two years. Stick concealers are good up to 18 months. If you notice a smell and color change its time to toss!

Nail polish 2years

Now, if you notice a change in color or a foul smell it’s time to part ways and toss! Generally speaking the nail polish should last you up to two years and most come with an expiration date on the back of the bottle which makes it even easier. Yay to expiration dates!
(OPI nail polish, Zoya, & Charming Charlie)

Lipstick 2 years

Lipsticks can last up to two years! Although you should dispose of your beloved lipsticks if you sense a change in texture, dryness, or change in hues (color).  Since lipstick doesn’t contain any water it last a lot longer.
(MAC lipsticks, and a bunch of others I depoted to be more sanitary)

Powders 2 years

With proper care and clean brushes, powder based products (bronzers, eye shadows, blush, face powder, etc.) can last for a couple years. Now that truly is a match made in makeup heaven!
(Coastal Scents Creative me palette, Naked Palette 1&2, Urban Decay Vice Palette, Smashbox "The Master Class" Palette, Anasatsia "Shadow Couture, MAC)

Here is a Glamour Tip: To keep track of your products expiration dates, write down with a sharpie on the bottom of each product so you know when it’s time to toss! If not write down your products in a note book with the date of purchase and the date of the expiration close to where you do your makeup as a friendly reminder.

Lorac Pro Contour Palette

Hey all! I am so excited, I finally got my hands on the new Lorac Cosmetics Pro Contour Palette (retailing $45 at Ulta Cosmetics) and I'm in love! At first, the colors looked very warm but honestly the shades are truly perfection for all skin tones. It’s a happy middle, not to cool (Skin has definite blue and pinkish undertones) and not to warm ( Skin has yellow/orange or olive undertones)  just the perfect blend. It’s easy to blend with its smooth texture and is pigmented. I used it about 8 times and it looks like I haven’t even touched it. The Pro Contour Brush it comes with is great, nice, dense (not super dense), and soft. It truly is a great brush that just sinks into that perfect cheek contour as well as forehead, nose, chin, etc. The lighter shades are also brilliant, I have brown skin and it doesn’t make me look like I added a 10 shade difference to highlight! I'm very excited to use it more on my clients. There are 5 matte shadows (2 matte highlighter & 3 matte contour shades) and 1 shimmery highlight. I definitely would recommend this product, and with the price point of $45 for a palette and contour brush you can’t beat it! The only thing I would say is a con with this product would be the packaging. The packaging looks nice but it does easily get dirty, other than that, great job Lorac Cosmetics this palette is everything!! Photo below is me wearing it for the first time :) I went for a subtle look this day, using the light and medium contour mixed together and the yellow highlight. Until next time! <3

Meet Me :)

Hey there! My name is Yashira; I am just your normal woman in love with all things Makeup, Hair and DIY (Do It Yourself). I am a wife, mother, Makeup Artist, and Believer. I didn’t know I was crafty or loved anything in the beauty industry till a few years ago, when I had people asking me to do their hair and makeup. I then decided to follow this hidden passion as a curiosity to see if I could be any good and to my surprise I fell in love! I attended and graduated from Metro Beauty Academy (Pennsylvania) and took the cosmetology courses.I had no idea how I loved expressing myself and loved making people feel “brand new”. Although makeup wasn’t huge at the school during the time I was going, we did get a crash courses on it and had a guest speaker who worked for Make-up Designory. Let me just say she was spectacular! I instantly fell in love with makeup after her course and began self-teaching. I stayed on YouTube day and night, and kept practicing on myself till I felt comfortable to start sharing my work on Facebook.

Now let’s be honest, I was awful at makeup! It’s purely amusing to go back and look at my work! Doing hair seemed to come naturally as well as DIYs. I want my blog to be able to inspire all. I will be sharing Makeup, Hair, and DIY tips. You will be able to see reviews on products that I purchase, as well as step by step or photo by photo makeup, and hair ideas. I will also post some DIYs because I love being crafty. I hope you all get to enjoy this blog and feel free to always comment and ask for certain things you would like to see next or just for my perspective I’d love to help. I am hoping with this blog that all my visitors and subscribers will pick up some inspiration and add some new ideas and techniques to their lives! So Welcome to all I hope you enjoy!
